Fragments

I have been amazed by the sky every day for the last week. I don’t know what makes my attention gravitate towards the heavens, but the clouds and their surrounding space have been absorbing more and more of my time. It may partly be the weather. It has been pleasant and inviting recently.

I was in the car a lot this weekend, more than I would have normally preferred, and I found myself gazing up at these masses of condensed water. I haven’t taken any photos of the sky recently though, and so far I have not had an urge to. I am satisfied to enjoy the company of such beauty in the present.

Sometimes I think about the tendancy to want to touch something new, interact with it, somehow involve yourself in something that would normally not have involved you at all. Why are coins thrown into practically any container of water of considerable size? Why tap on the glass of a fish tank, or collect shells and rocks from the beach?

The sky is interesting in that it forces one to behold beauty remotely, without the opportunity to interfere with its purposes.

I slept with the window open last night.
