Morning observations
Oct 6, 14:46
I didn’t go to work today (for various reasons mostly eclipsed by a lack of sleep) and so my day started out in a rather unusual fashion: I made breakfast. During which I came to several conclusions that I feel may change someone’s life. So:
- What is this giant block of wood with slits and why does it occupy significant space on my counter. I like knife blocks and all, but this one is always empty (save two sharpeners). We have lots-o-knives around but keep them mostly in the drawer or the dishwashing rack for easier access. So the block sits on the counter, kind of warning visitors there are definitely knives about, but that is all we know and anything that happens is not the responsibility of management.
Somewhat related: I do not know if my rental insurance policy covers kitchen mishaps.
- Whipped cream on a bagel is a sublime experience. Strawberry cream cheese is also a big plus. This is it; bagels no longer need an excuse to validate their presence on restaurant breakfast menus.
- I have been promised the use of a complimentary espresso machine after telling the story of how ours died a day out of its thirty day warranty. But it has been a little while and I am not sure of the status of said agreement at this point. Not wanting to appear pushy, I have resigned myself to inaction for the time being.
- I know this has nothing to do breakfast but I need to stop doing all of my writing in a text editor. There are many applications more suitable to this task.
- Even further off topic but Mac OS X’s dictionary is most certainly uncensored. I just looked up ‘eat’ and there are all kinds of references to eating all kinds of things bearing little resemblance to breakfast foods.
- I have come to terms with strawberry season being over. It is still not fair.
